With a rich history dating back to 1865, Zenith have created many timepieces that have become iconic in Swiss watchmaking. The year 1969 saw the introduction of the El Primero collections, becoming one of the first watch makers to unveil an automatic chronograph. Fast forward to the year 2018, Zenith are firmly thrusting watchmaking into the future with the new, contemporary DEFY CLASSIC collection.
Respectively, as a reference to its legendary predecessor (The El Primero) the new Defy Classic dial features the exact shade of blue that was featured on the iconic 1969 model, but the referencing stops there. This sporty, elegant collection is creating it’s very own 21st century status. Large indented hour markers are coated in Luminescent, along with the imposing hour and minute hands, ensuring clear readability in any condition. A convenient date display is also present at the 3 o’clock position, effortlessly blending in to the effectively simplistic dial layout. The delicate seconds hand with an emblematic star counterweight, elegantly sweeps over the stunning dial detailing. Made from ultra-lightweight brushed titanium, the 41mm casing creates a truly charming contrast. Presented on the unistructural blue rubber strap, for a durable, sporty finish.
The ultra-modern, transparent sapphire crystal case back reveals the Elite 670Sk Automatic movement that beats at a frequency of 28,800 vibration per hour. The star-shaped rotor is also visible, this rotor is the timekeeping section of the movement, providing the impressive 48-hour power reserve.
