Overview

Set upon the 41mm PVD-treated steel case is the 60-minute graduated PVD-treated unidirectional bezel with a matt black, anodised aluminium bezel insert. The black coloured dial features a grey coloured railroad minute graduation and luminescent filled hour indexes and hands. The large winding crown on the Black Bay Dark is made from resistant black PVD-treated steel. This tough PVD method has also been used for the handsome steel bracelet, reworked for the Heritage model, taking inspiration from the 50's and 60's riveted bracelets. With a water resistance of up to 200m (660 ft) Tudor have captured the essence of the iconic early diver’s watches with the stunning Heritage Black Bay line.

Complete with additional black fabric strap.

The movement

The manufacture Calibre MT5602 (COSC) that powers the Black Bay Dark was Tudor's first Manufacture Calibre in its history. Displaying hours, minutes and seconds with a frequency of 28,800 beats per hour. Purpose built for longevity and reliability, this (COSC) certified chronometer ensures a robust, precise self-winding movement that provides approximately 70-hours power reserve.

What is PVD coating?

The Black Bay Dark model features a technology called PVD “Physical Vapour Deposition”, originally developed by NASA for various space programmes, enabling any inorganic material to be bonded with metals to create a thin film or coating. PVD coatings are usually highly durable and have excellent abrasion resistance. This unique technique can be found incorporated throughout the timepiece.

Tudor Heritage Black Bay Collection

TUDOR introduced the New Heritage Black Bay collection in 2012. Following previous Black Bay lines, the Heritage Black Bay features a dial inspired by the the 1950’s divers models, as well as adopting the characteristic angular hands from the 1969 catalogue that were used by the French National Navy; referred to as snow flake by TUDOR collectors. Again, TUDOR refer back to the early Black Bay models by adding the traditional, large winding crown embossed with the iconic TUDOR Rose. The classic ‘Big Crown’ was featured on the first generation of TUDOR divers’ watches, enabling waterproofing of depths up to 200m (660 ft)
