Considering that it was part of all six lunar missions, the Speedmaster has become a symbol of space exploration and adventurous spirit. As Omega note, the Moonwatch was the “first Omega in Space" and “was inspired by the watch worn by astronaut Wally Shirra in 1962 as he orbited the earth during the "Sigma 7" mission.”
The renovated Moonphase collection is innovative whilst being reminiscent of its predecessor. On this timepiece, a sturdy 39.7mm stainless steel case is complemented by a deep black ceramic bezel ring complete with tachymeter scale.
The bold varnished black dial features rhodium-plated indexes and hands, and three subdials. Protecting the dial is scratch-resistant sapphire crystal, giving the chronograph fantastic durability.
Powering the timepiece is an official Omega Calibre 1861. The Calibre 1861 is Omega’s famous manual winding movement.
Finished with a sophisticated leather strap with polished-brushed fold-over clasp, the Speedmaster is an iconic member of Omega’s collections. For additional interest, the caseback features the original Seahorse design.
